These free profiles allow you to set a good white balance when using an IR Chrome filter and shooting in raw. They work with all versions of Lightroom and Photoshop.

- 0:00 Can IR Chrome filtered images benefit from a custom profile? You've requested that I create custom profiles for raw images shot with the IR Chrome filter. Why would you need a custom profile in Lightroom or Photoshop for this filter? Well, I did it, so let's talk about it. The IR Chrome filter is different from typical
- 0:23 high-pass infrared filters. Due to its dual bandpass design, the images do not require a color swap, making them much easier to edit. In fact, if you set a custom white balance in camera, you can shoot JPEG and get good results. This is ideal for full spectrum point and shoot cameras that only support JPEG. If you do prefer to
- 0:46 shoot and edit in RAW, you might find that you're limited in the color temperature you can set. With some cameras and lighting conditions, the white balance temperature slider hits the maximum of 50,000 Kelvin when trying to set a good white balance. This is where a custom profile can help. - 1:08 previous video on IR Chrome, I recommended a profile with temp plus 25. After doing extensive testing of various temp and tint combinations with RAW files from multiple cameras, I'm revising this recommendation to temp plus 50 and tint minus 100. - 1:35 Pack. This contains profiles that allow you to set a good white balance when using an IR Chrome filter. For each supported camera, there are two profiles. The first profile, Chrome, allows you to set a good white balance on RAW files captured with an IR Chrome filter. Download and install the profiles for
- 1:58 your camera. In the basic panel, open the profile browser. In the profiles group, select the Chrome profile. Then you can use the white balance picker to select a neutral subject in the image, such as clouds or pavement. Make any additional edits to the image.
- 2:20 The second profile, Chrome plus, adds a little boost to the reds in your image, shifting orange tones towards the red. The blues are also tweaked in this profile for more realistic saturation. They both share the same white balance, so once you've set a white balance, you can switch between Chrome and Chrome plus to see
- 2:40 the difference. If you shoot IR Chrome in JPEG, or if you don't have any issues setting a white balance with your RAW images, then you don't need these profiles.
